Lakeland, FL – May 24, 2025

On Saturday morning, approximately 80 supporters gathered at Munn Park in downtown Lakeland to rally in defense of free speech and to show solidarity with conservative activist and YouTube personality Kaitlin Bennett. The event coincided with the bustling Farmers Curb Market, drawing attention from both attendees and passersby.

The rally was organized in response to an incident the previous weekend, where Bennett was asked to leave the market by the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority (LDDA) and was subsequently issued a trespass warning by local police. Bennett had been conducting interviews on topics such as immigration and political ideology, which some vendors and market staff found disruptive.

Supporters at the rally donned red, white, and blue attire, with many wearing “Make America Great Again” hats and carrying American flags. Signs reading “Fire LDDA Director” and “LDDA Violates 1st Amendment” were prominently displayed, emphasizing the group’s message about the importance of free speech rights.

Bennett addressed the crowd, expressing gratitude for their support and reaffirming her commitment to exercising her First Amendment rights. She stated, “We’re not protesting anything,” highlighting that the gathering was a celebration of free speech rather than a demonstration.

Following the rally, Bennett and her supporters walked through the market, engaging with attendees and vendors. The peaceful procession underscored the group’s dedication to open dialogue and the exchange of ideas.

The event has sparked discussions within the Lakeland community about the balance between maintaining a welcoming environment at public events and upholding constitutional rights. As debates continue, the rally stands as a testament to the community’s engagement with fundamental freedoms.
