PINELLAS COUNTY – Governor Ron DeSantis has officially dedicated a new stretch of public trail in honor of Florida’s own wrestling legend, Hulk Hogan, celebrating both his decades-long career and his ties to the Tampa Bay community.
The newly named Hulk Hogan Trail runs about two miles through Pinellas County, complete with red-and-yellow fitness stations — a nod to Hogan’s trademark colors — and new signage marking the route.
“Hulk Hogan is an American icon who represents strength, perseverance, and a never-give-up attitude,” DeSantis said during the announcement. “We’re proud to honor him right here in the Sunshine State where he lives and gives back.”
Hogan, born Terry Bollea, rose to international fame in the 1980s and 1990s as one of the most recognized figures in professional wrestling history. Beyond the ring, he has lived in Florida for much of his life and supported local charities, youth programs, and veteran causes.
A Florida-Sized Tribute
In a state known for producing world-class athletes and entertainers, dedicating a public trail to Hulk Hogan is more than a celebrity gesture — it’s a recognition of a homegrown figure who helped put Tampa Bay on the map long before the Super Bowl or the Stanley Cup parades.
While some critics roll their eyes at symbolic dedications, Florida’s leadership has made it a point to highlight cultural figures who reflect the state’s energy and resilience. The Hulk Hogan Trail fits that theme perfectly — a place for everyday Floridians to get outdoors, get active, and maybe feel a little of that “Hulkamania” spirit.
Beyond the Politics
Whether you’re a fan of wrestling or not, it’s hard to deny the cultural impact Hulk Hogan has had. And frankly, in an age when most government announcements involve budget cuts or lawsuits, dedicating something fun — and positive — isn’t the worst thing politicians could be doing.
Governor DeSantis has often leaned into Florida’s distinct identity, and this latest move ties community pride to a household name. It’s a reminder that not every headline has to be partisan; sometimes, it’s just about celebrating Florida in all its colorful, larger-than-life glory.
So here’s to the new Hulk Hogan Trail — where Florida fitness meets Florida flair.
