Florida Dedicates Highway to Late Conservative Leader Charlie Kirk

Must Read

On October 4, 2025, Lake County officials held a ceremony dedicating a portion of Wellness Way—from U.S. 27 to the Orange County line—as the Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway, honoring the late founder of Turning Point USA. Kirk, a prominent conservative voice and youth activist, was assassinated earlier this year.

The proposal, led by Lake County Commissioner Anthony Sabatini, passed unanimously. Sabatini said the tribute recognizes Kirk’s “tireless efforts to engage and educate young Americans about civic involvement and conservative values.” Lake County is reportedly the first jurisdiction in the nation to name a highway in his honor.

Following Kirk’s death, Turning Point USA experienced a surge in interest, with more than 120,000 people expressing interest in forming new campus chapters. His widow, Erika Kirk, has assumed leadership as CEO and board chair of the organization.

Across the country, Kirk’s influence continues to ripple. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody has pledged legal action against any public school blocking Turning Point USA chapters, while Oklahoma’s former education chief Ryan Walters announced plans to establish chapters in every state high school.

Kirk’s supporters say the new highway serves as both a memorial and a reminder of his lasting impact on conservative youth politics.
