Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash Claims Life of Brooksville Man

Brooksville, FL – April 15, 2025 — A deadly hit-and-run crash early Tuesday morning has left a Brooksville family mourning and local law enforcement asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver responsible.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 4:20 a.m. at the intersection of Wiscon Road and California Street. A 45-year-old man from Brooksville was crossing the roadway, walking northbound, when he was struck by a westbound vehicle.

Authorities say the vehicle involved is believed to be an early model Dodge Durango of unknown color. The SUV did not stop after the collision and continued traveling westbound on Wiscon Road, fleeing the scene. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The Florida Highway Patrol is urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who may have information about the suspect vehicle or driver to come forward. Tips can be reported directly to FHP by dialing *FHP (*347) or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.

“This was a senseless and tragic incident,” said Sergeant Steve Gaskins, Public Affairs Officer with the Florida Highway Patrol. “We are asking for the community’s assistance in helping us find the person responsible and bring justice to the victim’s family.”

The investigation is ongoing.
